A boat trip to the
long narrow island of Kekova is one of the most popular excursions. Tours
start in Kaş.
Around the headland,
Kale (ancient Simena) is accessible only by water. The harbour is like a
postcard, with several waterfront restaurants.
To reach the castle at
the top is a steep climb, but worth it for the magical view and the smallest theatre in Lycia with
just 300 seats.
The Byzantine Sunken
City (Batik Şehir) became submerged after a massive earthquake. The remains
of the harbour foundations, walls and ruined sarcophagi are visible both
above and below the water line.
Swimming and diving
are allowed and there are also other excellent swimming and snorkelling
stops, such as Tersane, as small bay with a pebble beach, ruined Byzantine
chapel and monastery. There are sea urchins, so wear shoes. |
